What is a "NEW" Activation, or a Reactivation?
All computers have different hardware and will have different serial numbers, and model numbers. A "NEW" Activation is: A computer that does not have DDL installed on it. "A completely different computer", i.e. one to replace the old one. or you buy a 2nd computer. or install DDL on a 2nd computer i.e. Laptop or Desktop. The old policy was, you were required to delete DDL from the old computer, or purchase the 2nd computer license. We have done away with a 2nd computer license. We will now issue three (3) "NEW" Activations. After which a user will have to purchase DDL again. A "Reactivation" is: A computer that has DDL already installed and activated that has been updated, or Updated, example: equipment replaced, updated operating system, or fixed equipment is not consider "NEW" and does not count against the three (3) limit. Below is a table showing what is "Counted as NEW" and what is not.
NOTE: All the above will require a "NEW" ActivationCode from us. You must complete the "Request for Reactivation Form" located on the customer support site at http://www.ddlsoftware.com If you have been issued three(3) "NEW" Activations, then you will need to re-purchase the software at the full price of $95 US. Then you will receive the same three (3) "NEW" activations. We will email you this when you try and reactivate if you must re-purchase the software. FAQ : Section for "NEW: Activations Q: Can I request a "New" ActivationCode for my 2nd computer. (Laptop or Home Desktop)? A: Yes at any time, this will count against your three (3) NEW limit, simple 'Download and Install DDL' on the 2nd computer and complete a "Request for "NEW" Activation Form" located on the customer support site http://www.ddlsoftware.com You must give us the new InstallationID # from the computer you wish to register. Q: My 2nd computer failed and I purchase a used one. Can I receive an ActivationCode for this one? A: As long as you have not exceeded three (3) NEW Activation or Reactivation. YES. If you have exceeded three (3) then you must re-purchase DDL at the full price of $95.00 or Lite version for $50.00 Q: My computer has been in the shop over five times this year, Will I have to buy a new copy of DDL? A: No as long as we can verify that this is the computer registered when you purchased DDL. Hardware can change as often as needed and you will receive unlimited reactivations. Should they replace the whole computer. then it would count as one (1) against your three (3) NEW count. We will email you if their is a problem. Q: I want to buy a new laptop and give this one to my sister who drives at the same company. Will this count against the three (3)? A: When you register the "NEW" laptop it will count against the three (3) limit. No support will be given to the person you, sell, give, loan your current copy to. DDL is licensed to you only, this can not be transferred. Should she ever need to reactivate, she would have to have you do everything and this continues to count against your limit. We will only deal with the register user of DDL. Q: I purchase a new/used computer from a computer store, which has Drivers Daily Log (DDL)" pre-installed on it, it says " I have 29 days remaining on the trial period", Do I have to re-purchase the software? A: If you currently have purchased DDL and have not used the three (3) "NEW" activation, the answer would be NO, just compete a "Request for 'NEW" ActivationCode Form" located on our customers support web site. http://www.ddlsoftware.com. If however you are not registered, or this is the fourth (4) request, then YES you must purchase, or re-purchase DDL. Q: I purchase a new/used computer from a trucker/buddy, which has Drivers Daily Log (DDL) pre-installed on it, I have replaced the hard drive and now the software is saying I have 14 days remaining on the trial period, Do I have to re-purchase the software? A: YES, since you are not the license person who purchased DDL software. If you currently have a purchased copy of DDL, and have not used the three (3) "NEW" activation allowed, the answer would be NO, just compete a "Request for 'NEW" ActivationCode Form" located on our customers support web site. http://www.ddlsoftware.com
