Feb-3-2006 --  For Canadian and US  drivers going thru, or into Ontario Province. (LOGS MUST BE HANDWRITTEN)

We have been in contact with Mr. Alf Brown, Drivers using Drivers Daily Log Software can be cited if the do not have a written log for the past 14 days. Ontario never adopted the whole Federal Regulations, and in their Highway Traffic Act - O. Reg. 4/93 8 (1) states clearly that "A daily log may be handwritten in duplicate, or be made by means of a automatic on-board recording device. O Reg. 4/93, s. 8." DDL IS NOT an automatic recorder, so you must complete a hand written Log daily as required, The new rule in Jan 1, 2007 will allow you to use Drivers Daily Log.  There will be tough requirements, like the US, Logs must be printed everyday, before you are stopped. Must be hand signed by the driver, must have the past 14 days, plus todays when stopped, and others that they are working on.  For the link click below: (As far as we know, no one has been cited and fined, and as long as you have your logs printed for the past 14 days. You should be OK, It is up to the officer stopping you. (we recommend doing a hand written log to stay out of trouble, till the new law takes effect)
