News - 15 October 2009 Updated: 11-Nov-2012

Subject: Running DDL with the new Windows 7 or 8.

DDL will run fine on Windows 8 Pro  and Windows 8 Enterprise, but NOT on Windows 8 RT.

DDL will run fine on Windows 7 (All versions)

Special Note: Alternative 'Solution' We have found that you can 'right click on DDL Icon' on the desktop and click 'Run as administrator'. This would need to be every time you run DDL. A better way is to right click on DDL icon on desktop and select properties, select compatibility tab, then check always run as administrator then APPLY.

Windows 7 has three areas that should be checked for 'Run as Administrator'.  This will only need to be done once

1st place is under General  click here for Image

2nd is under Properties-Compatibility Tab

3rd is under Properties-Compatibility Tab-All Users Tab

Make sure all have a check mark in the box.

For some un-know reasons Windows 7 will uncheck these at times, so go back and check them if you have any problem.

In order to avoid the warning message when using DDL with Windows 7 or 8 64 bit OS, you will need to reinstall DDL into C:\Drivers Daily Log  Follow the steps below.

DO NOT USE the default settings or you will get a warning message every time you load Drivers Daily Log. This will fix the warning message.

Default location is: C:\Program Files\Drivers Daily Log (32 Bit versions)

Default location is: C:\Program Files(x86)\Drivers Daily Log (64 Bit versions)

Warning after following these Steps - you will most likely need to get a new ActivationCode as Driver Daily log will revert back to Trial period. Make sure you have your DDLID number. Use the 'Request for Activation Form" located on the main web page on our Web site for faster service and less delays.

Step # 3 - This is the most important step - Change the information in the Destination Folder from C:\Program Files\Drivers Daily Log\ to C:\Drivers Daily Log  (Example below:) Watch your typing as it must match. C:Drivers Daily Log is not the same as C:\Drivers Daily Log nor is C:\DriversDailyLog. It must be C:\Drivers Daily Log.  Always watch this location when you update to the latest version. Once entered it show continue each time to use this new directory.

Step # 4 - Remove the Check mark in the "Run Drivers Daily Log"  Click on it will remove it. Click on Finish.

We have to move or copy your Drivers Folder from C:\Program Files\Drivers Daily Log\Joe Driver to the new directory.

Step # 5 - Click on My Computer icon. Double Left click on C:\ in the right window pane. Double Left Click on Program Files or Program Files (x86) folder in the right window pane. Double Left Click on Drivers Daily Log Folder. Single Left click on your name (drivers folder, this will highlight your folder. Single Left Click on EDIT (top menu), Single Left Click on Move to a Folder... Go down the list till you see C:\. Single Left click on C:\. Find Drivers Daily Log folder. Single Left Click to highlight it. then click on Move..

Open your Drivers Daily Log by clicking on the DDL icon located on your Desk top. If the splash screen appears, Click on OK.

Step # 6 - Check the radio button for Run 'New User Wizard" to create a new vehicle driver now.  Click on OK

Step # 7 - Click on Cancel button

Step # 8 - Single Left click on your name to highlight it. Then Left click on OK to Save it. That's it DDL will re-open and you should now see your logs. If your a team you will need to copy your CoDrivers folder to this new location. Just copy the steps over for them.

WARNING:  If you are new to computers and do not fully understand what the UAC is and what it does, WE RECOMMEND YOU DO NOT USE THIS OR CHOOSE THE 3RD OPTIONS!!
