Computer System Requirements

The program requires a desktop or portable computer running Windows 95, Windows 98,  Windows ME,  Windows XP, Windows NT or Windows 2000 or later versions of each. An 800 x 600 or higher resolution display is highly recommended, thought a 640 x 480 display will work fine. A color display will also help. The program is about 1200K bytes large and produces log data files that consumes about 12K bytes per month per driver. A computer with a hard disk is recommended, but the program will install onto a 1.44 Megabyte diskette. Just barely

DDL will NOT run on a Windows 3.0/3.1/3.11. Explanation: In computer 'speak' - DDL is a 32 bit application and Windows 3.0/3.1/3.11 only runs 16 bit applications. The only advice I can give to potential DDL users who have computers with this older version of Windows is: It may be possible to upgrade the operating system on your computer - desktop or laptop - to Windows 95. Window 95 will install on 386 and 486 based machines with 4 Meg Ram (8 Meg preferred) and clock speeds of 25 Mhz or better. DDL has reached the point in its development that a hard disk drive is required. Windows 98 is not a candidate for Windows 3.0/3.1/3.11 upgrade unless you have a 486 - 66 Mhz - 16 Meg Ram or better. If your computer is a candidate - getting a copy of Windows 95 may be the problem. Check with your local computer 'guru' or computer store employees.

The software is distributed as a series of compressed files in one self extracting executable file, and includes a Setup.exe that decompresses these files and copies them to a suitable directory on the hard disk. The appropriate Start Task Bar selections are installed, along with an optional "shortcut" on the "desktop". The Setup.exe will also un-install, i.e. it will remove all the files, directories, and shortcuts that were originally installed. This is convenient for potential users who wish to evaluate the program and then remove it from their systems. No registry entries or system level DLLs are installed by this program.
