Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) -- Printing and Print Modules Questions Q-1: Will Drivers Daily Log (DDL) print a log my company will be able to use? Q-3: Do you have a Log Auditing software that will scan logs into it? Q-4: Do I need to download a print module to print a log? Q-5: Will you make a print module for my company? Q-7: I do not use all the print modules now, how do I uninstall them? Q-12: When I print, the right margin (recap) is being cut off. What do I do to correct this?
Q-1: Will Drivers Daily Log (DDL) print a log my company will be able to use? A: DDL has created different print modules that can be used with DDL to re-create a 'Log Page' If your company is using one of the systems listed on our print module page, then yes. DDL is currently supporting only about 33 Logs, that is can be printed and turned in for scanning into your company Log Auditing Software. A: Rapid Log/Eclipse Software has a copyright that will not allow us to reproduce at this time. Also Rapid Log has many different formats and we just don't have the time. But there is good news we find that many companies using Rapid Log will accept DDL logs (Classic) as DDL printouts with 6"x1" grids enabled seem to be scannable by Eclipse/Rapid Log systems. Return to Top A: No, however we do have a system for our customers using iTruck Log Auditing Software We have developed a system that will allow a driver to save the log as a .pdf file. The driver can then email the pdf log. The company can then use iTruck to rebuild the log inside of iTruck drivers folder. Q-4: Do I need to download a print module to print a log? A: No, DDL has its own log that is legal. (we call it the Classic log, we also have a OCR log that can be downloaded, by default DDL installs the classic log at startup. Q-5: Will you make a print module for my company? A: In general DDL does not create a print module for all companies, nor do we imply that by purchasing DDL your company will ever be created. We simple do not have the manpower, nor time to complete this task. We receive hundreds of emails requesting that their company needs it. We do search our database to see how drivers from a company have purchased DDL and try to serve the largest group. (so make sure you have listed your company when you register DDL). We will only consider doing a print module if the company log supervisor or higher, contacts Bruce to discuss the logs. They make contact Bruce at 575-317-9292. Not all will be done, as the time and man power just isn't there. A: If you are using one of the print modules and you're updating your DDL, you must download and install DDL first, then download and install all the print module's you have tried, or our using, in order to print your logs. If you have more than one print module installed, you must download and install each. If you're having problems with your screen flashing or blinking, when you click on print, then download and run this utility to delete ALL print modules. Then re-download and install only the print module you need. Click HERE Q-7: I do not use all the print modules now, how do I uninstall them? A: Each print module has an uninstall program located in the main folder, simple click on it to launch the uninstall script. This must be done for each print module, or you can download and run the utility for removing all the print modules at once program, this can be found on the download page under Utility and other software table. Download and run this utility to delete ALL print modules. Then re-download and install only the print module you need. Click HERE A: Open the Control panel for Windows, Click on Printer and Faxes. Right Click on your printer (should be default) and look for a setting called printer Preferences (Could be different, depending on the brand of printer you have). Look for Paper/Quality set this setting on the lowest setting allowed. Draft mode is best. Some programs will change this causing DDL not to print the print module correctly. DDL also has a Printer Setting in most of the print modules, you can click on this and set the quality to try and force the printer to print in draft mode. , Print modules also have a setting under setting to try and force the printer into draft mode. Try setting this.
A: No, the most likely cause is you have turned the Current time off in the setting, If so DDL goes back 365 days and forward 365 days. from today. You will need to turn the current time back on. Hold the CTRL key down and press the letter T once, you should have a broken line on today's log, if it is solid all the way across, then repeat the key combination again. You can also go to the day before the day you want to print, in this example we want to print from the 2nd of Jan, so change DDL to the 1st and make a duty status record on line 3 or 4 for 15 minutes. DDL will detect this and begin Printing from the 2nd as you selected. The same holds true for the last date, again just go to the day after you want printed, in this example the 11 of Jan, and again, create a duty status of 15 minutes on line 3 or 4. DDL will now print from the 2nd of Jan to the 10th of Jan. Turning the current time off in DDL is for advanced users, as it will effect many different areas. We don't recommend it. Q-10: I purchased the new Windows 64 bits computer, now my DDL will not print. What do I need to do? A: In order to print using a 64 bit -vs- 32 bit system, you will need to update your printer driver to a 64 bit driver. Visit the web site of your printer, and see if they have made a 64 bit driver. If not you will need to purchase a printer that does have 64 bit drivers. We have no control over the drivers and hardware. Just a note: In our testing their is several other programs that will not run under 64 bit systems. 1. Form Max 2. Co-Pilot 11 3. Old Printers (Older than 2 years old, no 64 bit drivers.) Some users can not print at all when you use Vista 64 bit operating system. (DDL will flash and then return to the main window) We have reports and Bruce has been able to reproduce this problem. When using a computer running Vista 64 bit operating system software. (please do not confuse a 64 bit processor and the 64 bit operating system, Most laptop are 64 bit processor running 32 bit operating system) We are convinced that this is not a software problem, but a bug in VISTA 64. In particular a Windows API DocumentProperties function call to get size of DEVMODE record for printer properties. See, http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=2677398&SiteID=1
It does not affect all VISTA 64 users or all applications. Since it affects some DDL users, users will point to the software. We are aware that it does effect the following software programs: DDL, Intuit (Quicken 2008), Ifanview, Formmax.
You need to report this to Microsoft. Loudly.
We have found a work around, that seems to work. This also seems to work with the above software.
1, Move the program from Program Files (x86) folder to C:\, Make sure you update the icon (link)to show this new location. 2. Take away all the administration rights. (clear the check boxes) Right click on the icon, click on Properties. Click on Advance tab, clear the check box 'Run as Administrator. Click on the Compatibility Tab, do the same. Now your printer should work.
Solution #2. We have not tested this. It comes from a user, using Quicken 2008
- Go to Control Panel, add a new printer selecting HP Deskjet 990c. - I selected the same USB port as the c7820 is connected to. - Under advanced Tab, select Print Directly to the printer. - In Quicken, under File > Printer setup, select the new printer. (To remind me, I had named this printer Quicken - HP Deskjet 990c, but this is not important to the function). At this time we do not recommend the 64 bit systems as you can run into more hardware and software problems, unless you are an advance computer user, stay with 32 bit systems, for a few year more. Than all systems and hardware will be 64 bit.
A: Step 1 -- Download and install the latest version of DDL and your current print module from our website, remember you must have the latest version of DDL installed and activated. If DDL is not activated you will need to complete the Request for Activation Form on the web site, Once DDL is activated proceed to Step 2. Step 2 -- If you have an old print module installed, we recommend deleting it, or you must keep it current, or you will get warnings about it being old. To delete a print module click on the word Print in the top tool bar, not the printer icon. Click on Show Print Module List (item #4 in the list). Click on the word Print again, then click on Print Current Log Day. Right Click on your old print module and choose delete. Step 3 -- Download and Install the new print module you need. That's it. Remember to always download and install both DDL and the print module every few months to stay current. All print modules must have the latest DDL to work. Q-12: When I print, the right margin (recap) is being cut off. What do I do to correct this? A: Step 1 -- Download and install the latest version of DDL and your current print module from our website, remember you must have the latest version of DDL installed and activated.
