Easy steps to Updating DDL

1.  New Computer or change in the motherboard or CPU on a computer.

2.  Reactivation on a computer that has DDL installed and was activated, but has de-activated for any reason.

3.  You are receiving a WARNING message in DDL that says you need to update.

4.  Anything not covered in 1, 2 or 3 above.

 

General Information: Please read to avoid delays.

1. Always carry a paper log book with you. It is required by DOT. This will allow you to continue to operate until you can be activated.

2. Activation can take 12 to 48 hours, depending on the driver following all the steps to avoid delays. However between 0400 and 1700 hrs  East Standard Time, 7 days a week 365 days a year, you will receive an activation in just a few short hours. After 1700 hrs, it will be the next morning. We do not activate by phone.

3. The #1 reason to not receive an email with an activation code is your email software is blocking us or filtering our address. Please put frbjorklund@driversdailylog.com in your email address/contact book before you send the email to us for activating..

4. Other reasons are: InstallationID is missing, InstallationID is missing numbers, or wrong numbers. An old InstallationID was provided. We need the InstallationID number that appears after the download and install is completed and DDL has launched.

5. All downloads for updates can be found on our web site, under the Download button (top of every page, large blue button). These links are always the latest version. Download only what you purchased as download the wrong version WILL de-activate DDL, you will need to follow Step #3 below if that happens and re-activation.

 

 

 

 

 

1.  A New Computer or change in the motherboard or CPU on a computer.  (This will count against the 3 new Activations per license you received when you purchased DDL, if you have used your 3 copies you will need to repurchase DDL again before a Activation Code can be issued)

A new computer or a change in the motherboard or CPU will require you to:

    a. Download and install the latest version of DDL from our web site. You can move your data folder into Drivers Daily Log main Folder once DDL is downloaded and installed.

        DDL Full Version Download. (Use Run or Open, not Save)

           DDL Lite Version Download. (Use Run or Open, not Save)

    b. You will need to complete the steps listed on the 'Request for Activation Code' (Big Orange button on our web site, or click on the link below)

        Request for Activation Code Form

    c. Provide the InstallationID number that is located on the top right, when DDL is running.

 

 

 

 

 

2.  Reactivation on a computer that has DDL installed and was activated, but has de-activated for any reason.

    Here there are two possibilities:

            1. Download and install the latest version of DDL from our web site. DDL stays activated. You don't need to do any thing else. Reactivations (same computer) is free, no charge to update. We recommend you update every few months

                    DDL Full Version Download. (Use Run or Open, not Save)

                          DDL Lite Version Download. (Use Run or Open, not Save)

            2. If you are updating from version 3.4.4.21 or before, DDL will most likely de-activate. If DDL de-activates or goes back to trial mode for any reason. Then follow these two steps.

                    a. Download and install the latest version of DDL from our web site.

                    b. You will need to complete the steps listed on the 'Request for Activation Code' (Big Orange button on our web site, or click on the link below)

                                   Request for Activation Code Form

                    c. Important -- The InstallationID will change when you update DDL to the latest version, if DDL is de-activated.  Provide the InstallationID number that is located on the top right, when DDL is running, not your old InstallationID. We need the InstallationID number that DDL is showing when DDL is running.

In order to insure you do not get a big fine or put out of service, due to bugs, or changes, We do not activate old software versions of DDL

 

   

 

 

3.  You are receiving a WARNING message in DDL that says you need to update. (this occurs at 8 months from installing, This is a mandatory update, to insure no problems from bugs, or changes needed to stay current with regulations. You have 30 days, before DDL will stop accepting new Data, no data is deleted, and you can still print, you just cannot enter new data. Always have a paper log with you.)

Here there are two possibilities:

            1. Download and install the latest version of DDL from our web site. DDL stays activated. You don't need to do any thing else. Reactivations (same computer) is free, no charge to update. We recommend you update every few months
